How We Collect Your Data

We primarily collect data directly from you through account creation, reviews, business profiles, or interactions with our emails and website.

We may also receive data from third parties. For instance:

  • When you sign up using a social media account, we import your information based on your settings there.

  • When a business sends a review invitation, they may provide us with your name, email, or reference number.

  • Data may also be collected for fraud prevention or investigative purposes from external sources.

Additionally, some information is generated automatically when you use our services, such as your IP address, device type, browser configuration, and how you interact with the platform.

Data Controller Responsibilities

A data controller determines how and why your data is used, while a data processor handles the data on behalf of the controller. These roles are defined by applicable data protection laws.

  • If you received an invitation to review a business, that business is the data controller for that invitation, and we act as the processor.

  • For data you provide directly on our platform (e.g., profile info, reviews, replies), we are the data controller.

  • In some cases, a business may also be a controller, such as for reviews about their service or when your review is linked to your order experience.

Why and How We Use Your Data

We use your data for purposes including, but not limited to:

  • Providing you with access to our platform and account features

  • Verifying your identity as a registered user

  • Displaying your reviews and account information

  • Responding to support requests and inquiries

  • Sending newsletters and platform-related communications

  • Personalizing your experience and recommendations

  • Conducting internal analytics, audits, and service improvements

  • Training our staff and maintaining service quality

  • Complying with legal obligations and regulatory requirements

  • Moderating content and detecting fraudulent activity

Who May Access Your Data?

Public Personal Data (For Reviewers and Business Users)

Your public personal data may be shared on the platform to allow others to read about your experiences with a particular service or product. If you use your real name as your display name, this may reveal your identity on the public site. Please review guidance on managing what personal information is publicly visible.

Business users who publish information on their public profiles should note that any data provided in this context will also be considered public and accessible to all site visitors.

Private Personal Data (For Reviewers and Business Users)

Only authorized personnel will have access to your private personal data, and only when necessary to perform tasks aligned with the purposes described in the “Why and How We Use Your Personal Data” section. Access is strictly limited to those with a legitimate business need.

If you are a consumer who receives a review request through the platform from a business, that business will have access to the data tied to the request. When a review is written in response to such a request, the business may associate the review with its original invitation. These businesses are considered independent data controllers and should be contacted directly with any questions or concerns.

Data Shared with Independent Third-Party Services, Websites, and Businesses

To enhance the reach and impact of reviews, public personal data, such as usernames, profiles, reviews, and business replies, may be made available to third parties through APIs and similar tools. These parties may use the information in their platforms and services, provided they agree to terms that protect your data and rights.

Third parties that may access or use public personal data include:

  • Search engines and other platforms respond to user queries (including AI-driven systems);

  • Businesses you’ve reviewed, regardless of whether you were invited to do so;

  • Consumer or business-focused platforms like comparison sites and shopping guides;

  • eCommerce platforms and plugin providers;

  • Social media platforms;

  • Other third parties that enter into a licensing agreement to access such public information.

If you choose to respond to a business’s request for more details (e.g., through a “Request Information” feature), your response is sent directly to that business. Verification documents, when required, are never shared with businesses, although non-sensitive references like order IDs may be shared unless you request otherwise.

Personal Data Shared with Data Processors

Personal data may be shared with carefully selected third-party service providers ("data processors") that help operate the platform and deliver services. These processors act on behalf of the platform and follow instructions set out in formal agreements, ensuring the handling of data complies with applicable laws.

Each processor is assessed for their ability to implement technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data from loss, unauthorized access, or misuse. Some of these processors operate in countries with different data protection standards. Nonetheless, appropriate legal, technical, and contractual safeguards are put in place to ensure adequate data protection, including data transfer mechanisms approved by relevant authorities where necessary.

Other Disclosures

In addition to the above, your data may be disclosed:

  • To comply with legal obligations or government requests;

  • To support regulatory investigations;

  • To enforce platform terms and guidelines;

  • To protect operational or legal interests;

  • To prevent fraud, abuse, or prohibited activities;

  • In the context of business transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, or bankruptcy.

Data Retention

Your data is stored only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose it was collected for, or to meet legal and regulatory requirements. The duration depends on the context, whether fulfilling a service, contractual obligation, or legitimate business interest. Once that need expires, data is either deleted or anonymized.

Personal content like reviews may remain accessible as long as your account is active. If your account is deleted, some data may still be retained for reasons such as fraud prevention, legal compliance, or defense of legitimate interests.

Data Security

Protecting your data is a top priority. A range of administrative, technical, and organizational measures is used to safeguard your information, and security protocols are continually improved. However, given the inherent risks of the internet, absolute security cannot be guaranteed. You should avoid including sensitive information in unsecured communications like plain emails.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies and similar tools are used to deliver, improve, personalize, and analyze services, as well as for advertising.

Cookies: Small text files stored by your browser at the request of visited websites. They capture user preferences, enable platform features, and help measure how features are used.

Pixels: Invisible images embedded in webpages or emails to track engagement with content or marketing messages.

Tracking Codes: Snippets of code that help track interactions, ad performance, and site usage.

Please refer to the Cookie Policy for further details on the types of technologies used.

Your Rights

If your personal data is held by the platform, you are entitled to the following rights, subject to legal limitations:

  • Access and Portability: You can request confirmation of whether your data is being processed and receive access to that data.

  • Correction and Deletion: If your data is inaccurate, outdated, or no longer required, you may correct or request its deletion. This can often be done through your user account or by contacting the support team.

  • Objection: If you wish to opt out of certain types of data sharing with third parties, such as marketing-related uses, you may exercise your right to object by submitting the appropriate form.

  • Other Rights: These may include restrictions on processing, withdrawing consent, or lodging a complaint with a relevant data protection authority.

For full instructions on exercising your rights, consult the Privacy section.
